“ | There is probably more suffering in a glass of milk or an ice cream cone than there is in a steak. | ” |

Here is why dairy is not vegan. Dairy industry is the meat industry. Majority of people think it doesn't hurt a cow to be milked, but in reality, it does.[1] Dairy is not kind and innocent, but cruel, violent and exploitative.[2]
Facts[]
- All cows must be pregnant in order to produce milk,[3] they cannot produce milk spontaneously without pregnancy hormones.[2]
- 21,000,000 dairy calves are slaughtered for veal or cheap beef.[4]
- 95,000 of them are in the UK alone, according to a report by Viva! in 2015.[5]
- ~500,000 of them are in Australia alone, according to Bear Witness Australia.
- Pus (the creamy white stuff that oozes from wounds) or somatic cells, is often in cow's milk because many cows will suffer from mastitis, a painful inflammation of the udders.[6]
The Independent revealed Coombe Farm in Somerset:
- Has given dead cows to the local hunt, as free food for hounds;[1] shocking the consumers, as they didn't know they were indirectly supporting fox hunts.[8]
- Distressed newborn calves struggling as workers shoved feeding tubes down their throats[1][9]
- A calf thrown to the ground and slapped in the face during force-feeding[9]
- A worker standing on a calf with his full body weight, shouting:[9]
“ | You f******. . .s*** | ” |
- Cows agitated and trying to intervene as calves call out in distress[9]
- A newborn calf dragged by its back legs into a separation pen away from its mother[9]
- Several cows with their back legs chained together in shackles[9]
Environmental facts[]
Health facts[]
- According to a report published in the British Medical Journal in 1943, between 1912 and 1937 some 65,000 people died of tuberculosis contracted from consuming milk in England and Wales alone.[2]

“ | There is no meaningful distinction between eating flesh or eating dairy or other animal products. Animals exploited in the dairy industry live longer than those used for meat, but they are treated worse during their lives, and they end up in the same slaughterhouse after which we consume their flesh anyway.
